Corsham Foodbank – About us

Corsham Churches Foodbank came into being as a result of an initiative from one of the elders of St Aldhelm’s Church, the late Gordon Todhunter, in 2010. A steering Committee with members from each of the local churches was established to take the idea forward.

Within a few months a constitution and method of operating had been established and a Trustee body formed. St Aldhelm’s Church had a very generously offered storage space and agreed that the foodbank could operate from its premises. The first issue of food to a client was made on 21st May 2011, and its first Annual General meeting in May 2012.
It was reported that in its first year of operation over 100 boxes of food had been issued. Unfortunately, because of the economic climate, we are now helping between 700-800 individuals each year.
